Singled Out has been designed to develop the child’s Observation Skills, Attention and concentration, Differentiation, Grouping and Classification, Vocabulary and Language Skills.
This is an educational aid covering 18 themes – each comprising of 6 objects /elements in the form of interconnecting triangular shaped jigsaw puzzle pieces (a total of 108 pieces) ! When all the 6 jigsaw pieces are joined correctly they form a family/group in the form of a hexagonal shape.
The 18 themes include Wild Animals,  Insects,  Sea Animals, Sports,  Headgear and more….
Besides this there are 18 more rectangular shaped jigsaw pieces which depict a devil’s horn. This piece has a jig which matches only one of the six pieces. This is the odd element or object in the group and stands singled out.
Now the child has to figure out a logical reason why this is a little different from the rest. While going along this journey of jigsaw puzzle solving and understanding the logic, the child builds up its vocabulary and language expression.
As all the pieces are of the same size, the child can be asked  to connect and build up a bigger group of like objects and elements by thinking out of the box. They can make a collection of 18 living creatures – water and jungle animals and insects in a geometrical formation of their own – it could be a star, triangle or another geometric figure. This will also teach them elements of geometry.
Other themes could be – in and around the home: bathroom, kitchen items, toiletries, headgear etc.. or personal effects: toiletries, footwear, apparel and many other possibilities…
This multi-disciplinary learning provided goes a long way in enhancing the child’s S.T.E.M (the child’s first steps to science, technology, engineering, and math) skills.
